Unchanging God in a Changing World

John 1:1 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Psalm 81:12 New International Version (NIV)
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
    to follow their own devices.

This last week was a difficult one for those follow Jesus and treasure His Word, yet still love this country.  The sight of the promise of God, a rainbow, illuminating this country's White House, praising the pride of man and not the glory of God, was unsettling to say the least.  We have been outrageously impudent before the God of all to redefine and relabel what He has created.  I just looked up another landmark Supreme Court decision, Roe v Wade, and have learned that well over fifty million abortions have been performed in this country since that right was granted in 1973, a court ordered sanction of the taking of lives created by God.   Now we have marriage equality.  That's a nice phrase to describe our stubborn rebellion against a God ordained covenant, a picture of Christ's own love for his church.  We want what we want and God may let us have it.

What have we done?  Have we set our own house on fire?  Is it so important to be on the right side of history that we endanger our eternity?

God doesn't change, and in that truth we can find our peace.  We can trust Him even though the winds may blow against us.
