Running The Race
1913 Indianapolis 500
2 Timothy 4:7-8 English Standard Version (ESV)
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
May 30 has been an important date in my husband's, therefore my family's, history, because it's the running of the Indianapolis 500. It stretches back to his childhood experience of going with his father to watch the race in a Tacoma theater making it a much watch event ever after. So last night I attended the Saturday church service with my husband and this morning the early service with my son so they could watch the race together. They don't even know that I got my shower at an early morning hour so the bathroom would be clear for both of them. Sometimes a mom has to do what a mom has to do.

The Leggings, The Zoo, The Circus
When I told my coworkers, one did wish she had been there to record it on her phone, but two others said in unison, "Well at least you had brightly colored leggings!"
When I told my husband I fell, he asked, "Did you damage your leggings?" (Fortunately he was just walking out the door, and when he came back in he was full of concern and had an apology on his lips; so he does still live here.)
Such is the power of leggings.
I truly believe that leggings are not pants and that they don't really feel like butter, but what great leggings was that pair! No, I didn't rip, tear or damage them and they laundered beautifully, still as bright as ever. So put me in the zoo or the circus because I do plan to wear them again!
I know this is a stretch, but I may have found a nearly appropriate Bible verse.
Exodus 28:42 English Standard Version (ESV)
42 You shall make for them linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh. They shall reach from the hips to the thighs;

A Really Great Read!
I just reread this book and expect I'll probably read it again. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Luke 10:25-37 New English Translation (NET Bible)
The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25 Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you understand it?” 27 The expert answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” 28 Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”
29 But the expert, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him up, and went off, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, but when he saw the injured man he passed by on the other side. 32 So too a Levite, when he came up to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan who was traveling came to where the injured man was, and when he saw him, he felt compassion for him. 34 He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever else you spend, I will repay you when I come back this way.’ 36 Which of these three do you think became a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” 37 The expert in religious law said, “The one who showed mercy to him.” So Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”

It's Good and Necessary To Count
Psalm 103:2 English Standard Version (ESV)
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
Count Them All (Radio Version) - JJ Weeks Band
[Intro]
Count your blessings name them one by one
Count your blessings see what god has done
Count your blessings ‘til all is well with your soul
Count your blessings move on past your doubt
Count your blessings when fear is screaming loud
Count your blessings until your heart overflows
[Chorus]
Every blessing great and small
Every breath every step we walk
Is a gift we don’t deserve from a love we cannot earn
There’s still a song to sing even in our deepest need
The valley’s low and the mountains tall
Take a breath and count them all count them count them all
[Verse 1]
Count your blessings even when it seems dark
Count your blessings even with a hurting heart
Count your blessings and remember whose you are
You gotta remember whose you are
[Chorus]
Every blessing great and small
Every breath every step we walk
Is a gift we don’t deserve from a love we cannot earn
There’s still a song to sing even in our deepest need
The valley’s low and the mountains tall
Take a breath and count them all count them count them all
[Verse 2]
Oh count them all count them all
Oh the power that's realist
When you know what you received
Oh the strength that you will gain
With every whisper then
Oh the joy that comes alive
Oh the peace that won't subside
And everything around you fades
And still you say
[Chorus]
Every blessing great and small
Every breath every step we walk
Is a gift we don’t deserve from a love we cannot earn
There’s still a song to sing even in our deepest need
The valley’s low and the mountains tall
Take a breath and count them all count them count them all
[Outro]
Go ahead and try to count them all
Go ahead and try to count them all

Because Sometimes a Good Cowboy Song...
...best expresses what's on a heart. And oh how I need His hand!
I Can't Even Walk (Without You Holding My Hand) - Cody Johnson
Lyrics
I thought number one would surely be me
I thought I could be what I wanted to be
I thought I could build on life's sinking sand
But now I can't even walk without you holding my hand
I thought I could do a lot on my own
I thought I could make it all day long
I thought of myself as a mighty big man
But Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand
Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand
The mountains too high and the valleys too wide
Down on my knees that's where I learned to stand
Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand
I think I'll make Jesus my all and all
And if I'm in trouble on his name I'll call
If I didn't trust him I'd be less of a man
'Cause Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand
Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand
The mountains too high and the valleys too wide
Down on my knees that's where I learned to stand
'Cause Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand
Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand
