A Renewed Strength

John 15:16 New English Translation (NET Bible)

16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.

Proverbs 3:5-6 New English Translation (NET Bible)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
6 Acknowledge him in all your ways,
and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 40:31 New English Translation (NET Bible)

31 But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength;
they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings,
they run without growing weary,
they walk without getting tired.

I can tell my creeping age when a common point of discussions is, "What hurts more, a hip replacement or a knee replacement?"  (Although I'm pretty sure right now it has to be a knee replacement.)  Just because I'm no longer a young warrior, doesn't mean I'm not still a warrior.  Physical therapy is tough!  It hurts!    And I've come to realize that physical therapy, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia don't play well together.  So I pray for strength to carry on.   I've got miles to go and pounds to lose before I'm done.
This song by Unspoken is speaking to me now.

Worrier Warrior, A Bit of A Fixer Upper

Philippians 1:6 English Standard Version (ESV)
6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

It's another Sunday spent recovering from knee replacement surgery.  God remains with me and remains good.  I've been filling probably too much of my time watching home improvement, fixer-upper TV shows.  Maybe it's because I'm still a fixer-upper. I thought I'd further along in my recovery, but surprise!  God must have his reasons.  I'm not yet where I can spend a full day at a computer terminal, a full half-hour maybe, but not even close to a full day; so, I'm inclined to worry because my sick leave won't last forever and I do need to return to work.  Another surprise came this week with an audit of my pay leading to some extra funds in my pay slip.  Yes, God remains good even to an impatient, worrier warrior.  Still all prayers on my behalf would be greatly appreciated.

Matthew West - All In (Audio)

It's Sunday!

This is my second missed Sunday church post surgery, and I do admit that I miss it!
Psalm 122 New English Translation (NET Bible)

Psalm 122
A song of ascents, by David.

1 I was glad because they said to me,
“We will go to the Lord’s temple.”
2 Our feet are standing
inside your gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is a city designed
to accommodate an assembly.
4 The tribes go up there,
the tribes of the Lord,
where it is required that Israel
give thanks to the name of the Lord.
5 Indeed, the leaders sit there on thrones and make legal decisions,
on the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
May those who love her prosper!
7 May there be peace inside your defenses,
and prosperity inside your fortresses!
8 For the sake of my brothers and my neighbors
I will say, “May there be peace in you!”
9 For the sake of the temple of the Lord our God
I will pray for you to prosper.

Instead of Me

1 Timothy 1:15-16 New Living Translation (NLT)

15 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

Galatians 2:20 New English Translation (NET Bible)

20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

If You're Waiting Until the Cows Come Home...

...they're here.

2 Corinthians 6:2 English Standard Version (ESV)

2 For he says,

“In a favorable time I listened to you,
and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
