Life On The Far Side

The Near Side of the Moon
The Far side of the Moon

For some reason the phrase, the dark side of the moon, came to mind.   When I looked it up, I discovered that the dark side was really the far side.   I also learned that it's so pitted and scarred because of all the space projectiles that hit the far side taking the bullets, so to speak, for the near side.   It's the near side we gaze upon and enjoy.    It's the near side that inspires poets and imaginations.

I believe that most, if not all of us, will spend time living on the far side, becoming scarred and marked in order to save those living on the near side.   It's our chance to share in the sufferings of Christ and to practice that there is no greater love than one who lays down his life for another.   (John 15:13)  There will be a day when those scars can be presented to Christ as proof we lived for Him.    So if you are setting up housekeeping now on the far side of the moon.  Take heart.   God, in his wisdom, has your good in mind.  It might also be the far side that finds you closer to HIm.
1 Peter 4: 13 (NIV)

But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

For now, we can do a little romantic moon watching.  Enjoy the song, "Moon River" by The Innocence Mission.
