I've almost finished rereading this book by Lauraine Snelling, an historical drama of a Norwegian family who immigrates to the Red River Valley of North Dakota enduring hardships and sorrows in the process. It's good and is being offered right now for free on Amazon's Kindle store. I always like free. If I'm ever tempted to romanticize prairie living this book chases away those notions. I remain thankful for this house of the level path and ever so thankful that I never had to live in a sod house.
