I've been watching the news coverage of the shooting at Seattle Pacific University that took place earlier today. It was and remains a terrible, heartbreaking tragedy. We wonder where God is when such suffering occurs but it was clear to me that He was there, present at this Christian campus in the lives of the students who were willing to lay down their lives for their classmates. There was the student building monitor who, much like David before Goliath, used pepper spray to disarm the shooter when he had stopped to reload. There were the other students who didn't run away from danger but joined the monitor to subdue the man, saving lives and quite probably even the killer's own life. I could have been much worse; but it wasn't because Christ himself provided the example when he suffered the Cross for us; and, because of the Cross, He was there. And He is also here in our present grief over yet another campus shooting.
