28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
My mother is fond of quoting this verse, sometimes, she seems too fond, when things are not going well and she reminds me yet one more time that the verse says, all things. It's then that I want to challenge God, and tell Him like Desi told Lucy, "You've got some splainin to do!" My mother and God do seem to be on the same wavelength, however, and I know they both are right. So as I stand defiantly with arms akimbo and a foot ready to be stomped, I am brought up short in the presence of two such loving hearts.
