My God Who Pursues Me

Psalm 61:2 English Standard Version (ESV)

2 from the end of the earth I call to you
    when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
    that is higher than I,

Psalm 18:2 English Standard Version (ESV)

2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

In my pursuit of God I don't always consider that my God pursues me.  No matter the circumstances, He is there, my rock and my deliverer, and sometimes my teacher.  Today I judged harshly in my mind, while reaching for my purse, a man holding a sign saying he was in need.  I was even relieved that my hands didn't find any cash. At the store this evening, I pulled out my debit card to pay for my groceries, but couldn't get it to work in their card reader.  I pulled out another card, protesting that the first one should have worked, and the machine rejected it also.  The young woman in line behind me, that I hadn't yet noticed, offered to the cashier the cash to pay for my purchase.  I protested more than a little embarrassed at being the recipient of her charity.  She said, "Don't rob me of my blessing," so I gave up and thanked her.  God pursued me right to the store, when he had something for me to learn.  My lack of generosity was showing, because there really was no other reason for those cards not to have worked, and He wanted me to know.

Solid Rock (Acoustic) - Unspoken
The Lyrics:
Let me fail a thousand times if that is what I need
Let me lose these dreams of mine if I need to taste defeat
You walk me through the fire until I see the heart of your desire
You came to me

And through these dark and raging seas
Your grace has not abandoned me
And for these storms I thank my God
For they drove me to the solid rock

From the shipwreck of my life, you build a truer heart
In my brokenness you shine, my loss is where you start
To form in me your will until my love is a reflection of
Your love for me

And through these dark and raging seas
Your grace has not abandoned me
And for these storms I thank my God
For they drove me to the solid rock

You pursue those you love
And so we have no need to fear
For these storms will draw us near
To you

And through these dark and raging seas
Your grace has not abandoned me
And for these storms I thank my God
For they drove me to the solid rock

And through these dark and raging seas
Your grace has not abandoned me
And for these storms I thank my God
For they drove me to the solid rock
And for they drove me to the solid rock
Yes you drove me to the solid rock.
