With Reverence and Awe

Hebrews 12:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

I'm not familiar are always comfortable with the liturgy of an orthodox church, but I cannot deny the beauty found in the music.  While I'll always lean to the Gospel hymns I was raised on, I do enjoy a hymn that seems to bring me right into the presence of God.  I was pleased to find that the Latin hymn "Iesu Dulcis Memoria" had an English version that I knew.  "Jesus the Very Thought of Thee."

Jesus, the very thought of Thee
With sweetness fills the breast!
Yet sweeter far Thy face to see
And in Thy Presence rest.
No voice can sing, no heart can frame,
Nor can the memory find,
A sweeter sound than Jesus' Name,
The Saviour of mankind.
O hope of every contrite heart!
O joy of all the meek!
To those who fall, how kind Thou art!
How good to those who seek!
But what to those who find? Ah! this
Nor tongue nor pen can show
The love of Jesus, what it is,
None but His loved ones know.
Jesus! our only hope be Thou,
As Thou our prize shalt be;
In Thee be all our glory now,
And through eternity.

Amen.
