The Light Has Come

John 1:1-5
New International Version (NIV)
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
John 1:14
New International Version (NIV)
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Snow is in the forecast and I've just made my first batch of Christmas fudge.  In the back of my car are Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus blow mold figures, my Black Friday Goodwill find, to put out in our front yard sometime before Christmas.   While I'm still intrigued by the fact that Baby Jesus was the cheapest figure of the three, I'm also starting to think he deserves better than riding around the back of my car.  Then again it might be good to have him in my car year round, at least it would be if he was some kind of good luck charm, which He's not.  Jesus is the light of the world, the life and light of all mankind.   He is our foretaste of glory divine, and even the most devout among us can barely discern the magnitude of the Savior's birth.  He is here and darkness has been vanquished.
